Privacy Policy
Last updated
This is the privacy policy for Just for Later: the app for Mac, iPhone and iPad, and the website at justforlater.com. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we'll fix the wording.
Who we are
Just for Later is a small independent product made by Petro Dudchenko, an independent developer based in Spain. He decides how the data described here is used and is responsible for it. Contact: hello@justforlater.com.
The app
Just for Later is a personal shelf: you save the films, books, shows, music, podcasts, games, products and links that interest you, and keep them in order.
What stays on your device
Everything you save stays on your device: the things themselves, their pictures, your notes, lists and shelves, and your name and photo in Settings. The app has no accounts and no server of its own, and it doesn't collect analytics, advertise, or track you across apps and websites.
Deleting a thing moves it to the Trash, where it stays for 30 days before it is deleted for good. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on the device. Settings can export your whole shelf as one file.
What leaves your device, and why
- Links you save. The app reads the page at that address, as a browser would, to learn its title, description and picture. It also asks the site for its icon. These requests go only to that site and carry no cookies and nothing about you.
- Titles and search words. To fill in details for films, books, shows, albums, podcasts and games, the app looks up what you saved in public catalogs: Wikipedia and Wikidata, TVmaze, Open Library, and Apple's iTunes Search. These requests contain the title or words you searched for, and nothing else.
- Pictures, only if you allow it. Your device reads your pictures first: Apple's Vision reads the text in them and Apple's on-device models name what they show, and neither sends anything anywhere. Some things the device can't do by itself: naming the products and places in a picture, and finding the shops that sell them. For those, the app can send the picture and the words it read in it to Claude, the AI made by Anthropic. It does this only after you allow it, and it asks you the first time. You can turn it off at any time in Settings under Recognize pictures with Claude. Anthropic handles what it receives under its own commercial terms and privacy policy (anthropic.com/legal). It receives nothing that identifies you.
The website
The website is a few pages and a blog. It uses two tools from our host, Vercel, that are built to respect privacy:
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and clicks on the site's buttons and links, so we can see which pages people read. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and can't recognize you from one visit to the next. See Vercel's documentation.
- Vercel Speed Insights measures how fast pages load on real devices, with the same properties: anonymous, no cookies, no IP addresses.
Visit any page once with ?noanalytics=1 at the end of its address and both stop counting in that browser; the switch is kept in your browser's local storage until you clear it.
Vercel also keeps ordinary server logs (the page asked for, the time, the response) for a short time to run the site and keep it safe. They aren't combined with anything else.
The site has no accounts, no forms and no newsletter. The "Get early access" button only counts the click. We don't set cookies of our own, run ads, embed tracking pixels, or sell or share data.
Children
Just for Later doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to hello@justforlater.com. The app keeps your shelf on your own device, so in practice there is nothing about you on our side. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Spain that is the AEPD.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
